Watercooler Block Off Plate Kit for 1.4 TSI EA211 MQB
Upgrade your 1.4 TSI EA211 MQB engine with our Watercooler Block Off Plate Kit. Commonly used when converting to an air-to-air front-mount intercooler solution to achieve significantly lower air intake temperatures, and therefore safely make more power.
For those utilising a remapped engine and especially those who have upgraded to a turbocharger, such as the IS12, IS20, or IS38, using our conversion kit, the factory watercooler located within the intake manifold can become overwhelmed by heat when full boost is achieved. This is due to the fact that compressed air results in increased temperatures, quickly overpowering the small watercooler inside the intake manifold.
Performance Improvement
Our own 250+ BHP 1.4 TSI EA211 MQB (CZCA) VW Scirocco GT build that uses an IS20 turbo, got upgraded to a simple air-to-air front-mount-intercooler (FMIC) setup, where we tested 3 different cooling setups.
We ran the car from 3,000 to 7,000 RPM at full boost in 4th gear for about 15s each time using 3 different cooling setups to see which one achieved the lowest temperature inside of the intake manifold.
Note: The tests were conducted at different times in the year, at different ambient temperatures, so the results you see are with the ambient temperature taken out of the equation. For example, the Stock Watercooler result's raw data, including the ambient temp, was 51.8 °C and just 25.5 °C with the Standalone FMIC setup.

The results were evident, showing to us that the stock watercooling system was indeed completely overwhelmed when under load, even for an extremely short period of just 15 seconds. Thankfully, even with the ghetto air-to-air intercooler core that we used, we managed to more than half the intake temperatures which is phenomenal! You could very likely achieve even better results with a higher-quality intercooler core!
